Re:  Have your say on the future of two Rushden schools

Dear Parents and Carers

North Northamptonshire Council is asking for views on the proposed amalgamation of Tennyson Road Infant and Alfred Street Junior School.

You may already be aware that:

  • Tennyson Road Infant School provides education for children aged 3 to 7 years.
  • Alfred Street Junior School provides education for children aged 7 to 11 years.

To address several financial and operational challenges at Alfred Street and Tennyson Road schools the Council was approached by the governing bodies from both schools to support an amalgamation.

Council officers support the request of the governing bodies and agree that the proposed amalgamation would be to the benefit of children in the local area. It would also seek to address financial concerns regarding the long-term viability of operating as two separate schools.

There are currently three options being explored:

  • Option 1 – maintaining things as they currently are
  • Option 2 – one of the schools is closed and the other extends its age range
  • Option 3 – both schools are closed, and a new primary school established

Have your say

  • You can target="_blank" have your say by completing the online questionnaire-the questionnaire, supporting documents and further information can be found here (Initial Consultation : Proposed amalgamation of Tennyson Road Infant School and Alfred Street Junior School, Rushden. - North Northamptonshire Council - Citizen Space)
